What are Shiva and Shakti?

Shiva is pure being or consciousness, and Shakti is its dynamic energy and self-awareness. They are inseparable aspects of one reality. This relationship offers a way to consider stillness and activity together, rather than treating them as unrelated experiences.

A teaching that includes everyday life

Recognising consciousness within the world makes ordinary experience part of the inquiry. These selected themes offer an entry point into the tradition and its practices.

Meditation

Meditation brings stillness, thought and self-knowledge into relationship. It is an opportunity to become more aware of the mind’s movement and of the patterns that shape our experience.

Bija Mantras

Seated meditating body with seven coloured chakra positions and the mantra names Silence, Om, Ham, Yam, Ram, Vam and Lam.

Bija mantras are seed sounds used as a meditation practice. Beginning with Lam at the root chakra, at the base of the spine, repeat each mantra seven times and bring your attention to its place in the body. Move steadily from the bottom of the chart to the top.

Shaktipat

Shaktipat relates to grace and direct experience.
